Rock Steady Spirits’ Tequila Tepache Hi-Ball was born from a love of Mexico’s food and beverage culture. Through many trips to visit rural producers of agave spirits, I was introduced to pulque and tepache, fermented beverages typically available from street vendors.

“I fell in love with the sweet and sour flavor of fermented pineapple with cinnamon. Combined with the flavors of roasted agave from tequila, plus a touch of acidity from fresh lime juice, you’ve got a great cocktail.”

However, my affection for refreshing sparkling beverages, left me wondering if I could take tepache to another level, utilizing the fermented product as the base for a refreshing, carbonated Tequila cocktail that could be enjoyed anywhere. Working with the team at Thunderbolt in Los Angeles — experts in clarified and carbonated cocktail production —  we fine-tuned the recipe, initially canning the cocktail individually by hand.

As demand for the Tequila Tepache Highball spiked, production was moved to a distillery, allowing us to increase production quantity without sacrificing the elements that make the cocktail the best ready-to-drink beverage on the market: high-quality natural ingredients, wild fermentation, heavy carbonation, and an expertly-balanced recipe.
